....Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
Matt. 1:23
Emmanuel began as a mission sponsored by Evergreen Baptist Church in Loughman. The first service was held on Thanksgiving night 1971.

The name Emmanuel, meaning God with us, was chosen on January 27, 1972. Brother Horace Burgner was called as Pastor April 9, 1972 and Emmanuel was organized as a church on May 12, 1972. We met in the Woman's Club building in Kissimmee until we moved into our current building Christmas Eve 1978.

In September of 1986 work was finished on a two story addition which houses our Fellowship Hall and Sunday School classrooms.

In August 2004 Bro. Burgner retired as Pastor. He celebrated 50 years preaching the Gospel; 32 of those years were spent at Emmanuel. The church then called his son, Bro. Carl Burgner as Pastor.
